We are the all-volunteer
arm of the United States
Coast Guard. With nearly
30,000 members, the U.S.
Coast Guard Auxiliary
actively provides safety
patrols on area waterways
and regularly meets with the
boating public at marinas
and in classrooms. We also
directly assist the U.S.
Coast Guard in non-law
enforcement programs such as
search and rescue, and
marine environmental
protection.
Division 8 is one of the
premier components of the
USCG Auxiliary in the
Central Alabama, East
Mississippi and West Georgia
area and we are seeking many
volunteers to assist in a
wide range of programs such
as Marine Safety Patrols,
Homeland Security Waterway
Watch, Vessel Examination
and Boater Education.

Skills :
Men and women age 17 and
older.
Must be a citizen of the
United States of America or
a U.S. Commonwealth.
Ability to volunteer 8 or
more hours per month.
Strong desire to save
lives, and/or protect our
nations waterways, and/or
preserve marine life and
ecosystems.
Ability to work
successfully in a team
environment.
Must be able to pass a
basic U.S. Government
background check -- no major
felony convictions.
Must pass a basic boating
education course within 6
months of membership
acceptance.
