From the Bridge

"Welcome to Division 8-8CR! Over 150 Coast Guard Auxiliarists call Division 8 home, and we cover an area from Columbus, MS to Columbus, GA across the central third of Alabama. Bob Parnell and I are excited about another year at the helm in 2008."

"In this “post-Katrina” and “post-911” era, the Coast Guard and the Auxiliary is adapting to more change than usual. We are looking forward to meeting the challenges posed by these changes, but we cant do it without the hard work of the flotilla leaders and the individual members. In particular, our primary goal (and challenge) is maintaining our existing member base and growing the division’s membership through targeted recruiting in the wake of our new PSI (Security Clearance) requirements."

"I encourage the members of Division 8 who read this content to ALWAYS consider how you can add new members to your flotillas. Be sure to carry recruiting literature wherever you go. Remember that as you help those on the water, conduct a Vessel Safety Check, or teach a boating safety class, we can’t perform our duties to the boating public without new members. As it so happens, all are great times to recruit….when you have a person’s one-on-one attention."

"Our website contains information pertinent to our members and to the boating public in central Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. Remember there is much additional information to be found on the District, National, and individual Flotilla web pages. We truly look forward to working with the fine members of Division Eight in 2008."

"Please remember Bob and I are ALWAYS here to help YOU. Do not hesitate to call on us if at any time we can be of assistance."
